Session Description:
Some care gaps persist despite years of effort, partly because they are difficult to measure and partly because patient co-design remains underused. This session will highlight patient-driven interventions targeting hospital-acquired deconditioning and delirium, including novel roles for families and volunteers, and how we’re measuring impact.
Speaker Biography:
Erin is a General Internist and QI researcher at London Health Sciences Centre and Western University, and an Adjunct Professor in the Master’s of Quality Improvement stream at the University of Toronto’s Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation. Her research focuses on quality of care and education on clinical teaching units, particularly iatrogenic complications of hospitalization, including delirium and deconditioning. She is Acting Director of London’s Centre for Quality Improvement, Innovation and Patient Safety (C-QuINS) and serves as local QI lead for the London branch of the General Medicine Quality Improvement Network (GeMQIN).
Erin believes in sharing stories about QI – both the wins and the losses – and hopes today’s session will be a jumping-off point for a two-way exchange of ideas.
