Description

In the Spring 2021 TQIP Report, our center was identified as a high outlier for catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs), a quality indicator within the ACS Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP). In response, the Performance Improvement (PI) team launched a comprehensive, multi-pronged initiative in 2022 aimed at reducing CAUTI rates across the trauma care continuum. By Spring 2025, this initiative resulted in measurable improvements in CAUTI rates and corresponding TQIP performance metrics. This initiative highlights the complexity and time required to drive meaningful change, and emphasizes the importance of frontline engagement and a collaborative, interprofessional approach.
