
Kaveh Shojania (he/him)
Kaveh Shojania MD, is a Full Professor, in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto and sees patients as a general internist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Dr. Shojania’s research focuses on identifying evidence-based patient safety interventions and effective strategies for improving healthcare delivery more generally. He has authored 200 peer-reviewed publications, including in the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, BMJ, the Lancet, and CMAJ. His work has been cited over 25,000 times (h-index 74), and he has delivered numerous invited presentations on patient safety and quality improvement to national and international audiences. From 2011-2020, Dr. Shojania was Editor-in-Chief (and then Co-Editor-in-Chief) of BMJ Quality and Safety, which rose during his tenure to have one of the highest impact factors not just for journals covering health care quality and safety, but also all of health services research, clinical informatics, medical education, and health policy. More recently, he has taken on a role as Associate Editor at JAMA Network Open.
